My entry for the Crptid Files project
Mokele-mbembe is a large creature, said to be the size of an elephant or rhinoceras that resides in the swampy interior of the Congo Basin. Reports of its details tend to vary, but a large number of accounts detail something remarkably similar to small sauropod dinosaur.
The version depicted here incorporates a number of features, such as horns, dorsal fins, and the general sauropod shape, making it my own version of the creature, although some accounts label it as a spirit, rather than a flesh and blood creature..
Personally, I think there's a distinct possibility that some kind of animal that man has rarely seen exists out there in the jungles. There are reports of similar animals all over that region of Africa, which woud make more sense than a single family in terms of keeping the species alive.
Relic sauropod or not, this is one of those things I really, really hope proves to be real.
